When we moved in, our living room felt uninspired. The baby blue walls, dated brick fireplace, cheap sconces, and an outdated ceiling fan didn’t do the space any favors. I knew it needed a complete transformation—but on a budget.
That’s when I realized the best way to add character was woodwork. I wanted to make the fireplace the star of the room, and what better way than with box trim molding? It’s easy to install, affordable, and timeless while also being incredibly on-trend.
After sketching a design around the fireplace, I loved it so much that we decided to continue it throughout the entire room. We started by installing a chair rail around the space, then added box trim both above and below. Once the molding was complete, we painted everything a soft, warm white. The difference was unbelievable. Our once-basic living room now had depth, charm, and elegance.
We changed out the old dated wall lights with new vintage inspired sconces and things were finally starting to take shape.
We loved the transformation so much that we did the same in our home office. But this time, we took a bolder approach, painting the walls, trim, and ceiling a deep, moody green for a dramatic, high-end look.
